The Secret Life Of... ...Alianora La Canta

This entry was inspired by a forum thread in F1 Fanatic entitled The Secret Life of... ...you.

Q: Are you the kind of woman to have a ‘Plan-B’?
Yes. Usually I need it...

Q: Who is your dream date?
I don't have one.

Q: Which film last made you cry?
Beethoven's 2nd. Unfortunately I was crying with boredom!

Q: What are you afraid of?
Extreme stupidity inflicted by the very powerful on those with little power. In other words, power-drunkeness or power abuse.

Q: What was the last book you read?
Read as in read? "Ender in Exile" by Orson Scott Card, during the MotoGP race. I typically have 2-3 books plus a magazine on the go at once.

Read as in completed? "Fairs and Festivals of India" by Professor Ramesh Chandra yesterday.

Q: What is your favourite way to relax?
Watching F1.

Q: Have you ever - or would you ever - dye your hair?
Wouldn't even consider it and am slightly baffled at people who do.

Q: Name five things that you hate?
Lying, deliberate stupidity, prejudice, unexpected loud noise... ...and baked beans.

Q: Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
See my response to the hair-dyeing question.

Q: What did your teachers say about you in your school reports?
Academically, they tended to say I was brilliant, determined and an asset to my class. The one exception was PE; my primary teachers stated quite bluntly that I was hopeless except at the sports day obstacle course (where my forward planning ability compensated for my lack of speed, dexterity and agility) until my final year there, where I was the first (and as far as I know only) student in my class to compete in a sport for my country. At which point the reports got amended to "hopeless at land sports... ...and the obstacle race on Sports Day".

Socially... ...they got slightly frustrated, particularly at secondary school. Thankfully I improved a lot at sixth form.

Q: Who were your childhood heroes?
I didn't go in for that sort of thing, considering it better to look up to concepts and accept that everyone is a patchwork of good, bad and middling.

Q: Do you have any guilty pleasures?
This concept does not make sense to me.

Q: Do you collect anything?
F1 stuff. Especially Formula 1 Yearbooks (still looking for 1998, 1999 and 2001 in English and the pre-1997/2009 ones which I believe are only available in French), Jordan/Midland/Spyker/Force India and Fisichella-related items. I used to collect dinosaur-related stuff and badges when I was little and still have both collections.

Q: What was your worst buy?
An introduction to teaching course at a college which didn't seem to have much clue how to teach it. Thankfully the second place I tried was a lot better.

Q: How do you take your coffee?
I don't.

Q: Your ideal non-race Sunday morning?
Reading books and playing on my computer.

Q: What was your first vehicle?
A 1:43 1995 Sauber with Heinz-Harald Frentzen in it... ...oh, you mean drivable vehicle? Hasn't happened yet!

Q: What’s the most embarrassing mistake you’ve ever made?
I'm not sure I'd recognise "embarassing" in myself if I ever felt it, so I can't answer this one.

Q: What is the best thing you can cook?
I can just about manage an omlette.

Q: When was the last time you were really angry?
Two weeks ago. Suffice to say that there was a letter, several very confused people and four of the five things I most hate involved.
