Unsurprising News

It's been a day of unsurprising news today. CAMS has finally agreed to provide the Australian Grand Prix with FIA-related support after a dispute involving the $500,000 annual bill got resolved. Somehow, I thought it would all end amicably and that Australia could stay on the calender. Now all that needs to happen is to pacify Bernie's ever-ravenous purse, and there's 3 years to do that.

Also, Luca Badoer would appear to be out of Ferrari. The source looks like a reasonable one, even though no formal announcement has been made. It also makes sense - Ferrari really doesn't need four test drivers because that would give each one about two days in the car each, even if Alonso and Massa declined to do any testing whatsoever. And if you're going to drop one, it makes sense to drop the one who was demonstrably unable to string a reasonably low-error weekend together when last asked to step up to the plate.

Sauber has announced when it's launching its car. January 31 is neither particularly early nor particularly late given that testing begins the next day.

You can tell it's the off-season though. Until something happens in the Silly Season, expect little news of note.
